Transparency and Accountability: Journalism and access to public information in Latin America and the Caribbean

The 11th Austin Forum invited more than 50 journalists from the American continent to discuss the topic “Transparency and Accountability: Journalists and Access to Public Information in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

During the annual gathering, which took place on Nov. 8 and 9, 2013, participants concluded that the region’s culture of secretism and the lack of training on how to use right-to-information laws were the biggest obstacles to transparency in the continent. Among the contributors to that forum was Founding President of the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM), Mr Wesley Gibbings.
